Disaster Contingency Planning Training (Virtually and Onsite)

Strengthening Disaster preparedness at the global, regional, and national is critical to save lives, protect livelihoods and strengthen recovery from disasters and crises. However, significant gaps exist in the many international development systems in the coordination of disaster and emergency preparedness efforts. These can be addressed by better integrating contingency planning into organizational processes through establishing agreed standards and tools for multi-hazard emergency preparedness. Disaster contingency planning ensures that individuals and organizations know what to do when disaster strikes, and have the systems and tools to respond in a timely manner during such incidences. It means anticipating the Disaster occurrence and understanding how to manage it when it strikes. This training is meant to improve knowledge on disaster contingency planning including the entire cycle of activities that go into the development of Disaster contingency plans that are practical, result-oriented, simple, participatory, and realistic and supported by preparedness actions.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Mitigation, And Response Training November

Developing countries’ disaster profiles are dominated by droughts, fires, floods, technological accidents, diseases and epidemics that disrupt people’s livelihoods, destroy the infrastructure, divert planned use of resources, interrupt economic activities and retard development. In addition to this, a fast-tracked pace of development in the developing world has brought with it the perils of precarious living, pressures on non-renewable resources, densely populated spaces that are unplanned, unsafe and risky and environmental degradation among others. As a consequence, the frequency of disasters such as earthquakes, floods, cyclones, landslides, droughts, and fire outbreaks has gone up. Something needs to be done.
